HISTORY

In 1980, the Congregation of Paules Fathers of the Catholic Church in Honduras, concerned by the great affluence of social problems that affect the city of San Pedro Sula, started to carry out studies aimed to open the first community aid centers, directed by Rev. Father Antonio Quetglas, who was the Parish Priest of the Parrish of St. Peter Apostle (Cathedral) at that time. Rev. Father Antonio was the founder of what now is Fundación Obras Sociales Vicentinas [St. Vincent Social Works Foundation], which became officially constituted in September 29, 1995, through resolution # 160-95, issued by the Presidency of the Republic, through the Government Office of Government and Justice, where the guidelines to rule the operation of the Foundation are established.

The Foundation has a head office, which is in charge of the general administration of the institution. The experience obtained along 25 years of work, for the benefit of our most needy brothers and sisters, gives us the necessary credibility before our benefactors as an institution with a serious commitment towards each of the direct and indirect beneficiaries that receive our attention.

 

OBJECTIVES

The objective of FUNDACION OBRAS SOCIALES VICENTINAS is to develop works and projects for housing; create and develop centers to shelter children with social, family and other types of problems, as well as single mothers and youths with similar problems; rehabilitation of people addicted to alcohol and drugs with the aid of farms, workshops, and other means, for this type of medical assistance; hospitalization; technical and academic education; in addition to worship, charity, and human and spiritual development that the Catholic Church in Honduras, particularly the Congregation of the Mission or Paules Fathers, carries out or will carry out.

MISSION

We are an NGO with a philosophy founded on the spirit of Saint Vincent de Paul, created by the Mission Congregation or Paules Fathers (Catholic Church), with the purpose of improving the living conditions of the most needy brothers and sisters, through the various assistance and social promotion programs, aimed to children and youth at social risk, elderly, alcoholic patients, terminal patients and AIDS patients.

VISION

To consolidate our organization in order to continue providing integrated attention to our beneficiaries and to the society in general, through time, being supported by the timely and constant aid of our benefactors, volunteers and employees committed to serve the poorest.
